Linux for DCS Dedicated Server Reviewed
Hi Folks,
I've been testing running DCS on Linux and have updated to support SRS, LotATC and mission archives. I've had some positive results, but also some issues as well. So for the time being I'll continue to leave this service labelled as experimental.
The issues I've run into are tankers teleporting around whilst refuelling, and the Server Dashboard disconnecting after a few seconds.
The Dashbord was correlated with WSAIoctl unimplemented ioctl SIO_IDEAL_SEND_BACKLOG_QUERY messages in the logs, so I'm thinking this has something to do with WINE, but I'm not sure how to resolve it.
The main reason to use Linux is that the same ec2 size is about 30% less expensive, and its billed by the second than by the hour. I'll continue to make the Linux service availble as is and hopefully find a way to improve it.
